The station JALH (Jalhay) is operational since 04/10/2006
(GPS week 1370)
and replace the station
MEMB (Membach)
which was active from GPS week 913 to 1172.
The Belgian 0-order GPS network (BEREF), that falls under the responsibility of the National
Geographic Institute
(NGI) is also based on the 4 ROB stations:
Brussel, Dentergem, Dourbes and Waremme.
Inclusion of the permanent station in international observation network
The station
Brussels belongs to the
IGS network
since 1993. The stations
Dentergem, Dourbes and Waremme all belong since
January 1996 to the European permanent network
EUREF.
As a direct consequence, they are also included into the
IERS
network and their coordinates are known with cm-accuracy in the International Terrestrial
Reference System. The coordinates of the stations are recomputed each year and are know as
the
ITRF92,ITRF93, ..., ITRF97,
ITRF2000 realisations.
The last coordinates obtained in this way are known as the ITRF2000 coordinates. Their values are
available on the web-site in the
table
that includes the coordinates of all the IERS stations.
You can find
here more details about the different international
reference systems (ITRS, ETRS89, WGS84).

The
RINEX
data files are available on-line
for the stations Brussels, Dentergem, Dourbes and Waremme:
The RINEX data are compressed. The compression is done in 2 separate steps and has to
be done on the PC of the user. For this purpose the following programs need to be installed:
- a UNIX-based uncompress program (available for different OS)
- a RINEX-specific uncompress program (available for different OS)
These programs and additional readme files are available at:
ftp://epncb.oma.be/epncb/software.
Off-line data are made available in
ftp://epncb.oma.be/gps_rob/data/requests after directing a request to:
Dominique Mesmaker
or
Robert Laurent.

Broadcast navigation ephemerides are available in the
RINEX format
at
ftp://epncb.oma.be/gps_rob/data/ephem.
Older ephemerides can be retrieved from the Federal Office of Karthography and
Geodesy (BKG, Frankfurt, Germany) at:
ftp://igs.ifag.de/IGS/obs/.
The programs to uncompress the files are available at :
ftp://epncb.oma.be/epncb/software/.
In addition to the broadcast ephemerides, BKG is also making available the
precise IGS satellite orbitsb
in the
SP3
format. The high accuracy of these precise orbits makes especially suitable for high
accuracy applications.
The following file name conventions are used to denominate the broadcast and precise satellite
orbits files:
| The broadcast ephemerides :
|
IFAGddd0.yyN
ddd: day of the year
yy : year
|
|
|
|
| The precise ephemerides :
|
IGSwwwwd.SP3
wwww : GPS week
d : day in GPS week (o=Sunday)

If, after a few years, the scientific objectives of the ROB are achieved,
the maintenance of the six stations, next to Brussels, will depend on the
interest of the user community.
